UK police hunt David Schwimmer lookalike for robbery – and online snarkers are there for you

Police in Blackpool, England, have gotten a barrage of social media responses when they posted a photo of a robbery suspect on Facebook with the question: “Do you recognize this man?”

Unfortunately, the man in question is the spitting image of David Schwimmer from “Friends,” who was most recently seen playing legendary lawyer Robert Kardashian on “The People v. O. J. Simpson: American Crime Story,” for which he earned an Emmy nomination.

While the police photo of a the man, who is wanted in relation to a theft at a Blackpool restaurant on the Sept. 20, is younger than 51-year-old — he is a carbon copy of his 90s-era character Ross Geller.

The similarity sparked plenty of quotes directly from the beloved NBC sitcom.

Police in Scotland even got in on the fun, with the Dumfries Galloway Police Division sending out a Facebook plea saying: “Please approach with caution. He is known to have studied karate and we believe he has mastered the art of Unagi, the state of total awareness.”

Another retitled a “Friends” episode to “The One Where Ross Brings the Beers,” in homage to the cans of beer the suspected thief is carrying.

Blackpool Police themselves couldn’t help but admit the resemblance, writing to the flood of commenters to their Facebook post: “Thank you to everyone for your speedy responses. We have investigated this matter thoroughly and have confirmed that was in America on this date.”

Schwimmer had a hilarious response to the situation.
