Are the royals loosening up? William and Kate show rare PDA at Princess Eugenie's wedding

Updated

Even the Duke and Duchess deserve a date night -- but they're pretty busy, so a date morning will have to do.

The couple had hearts melting around the world when cameras caught them holding hands at Princess Eugenie's wedding on Friday morning, a rare moment of public affection that we rarely see from the future King and Queen of England.

Will was also spotted with his arm around his wife's back.

While Prince Harry and Meghan often hold hands and even kiss for the cameras, William and Kate usually adhere very firmly to long-held traditions about how royals should behave in public. That's, of course, largely because William is in front of Harry for the throne.

The standards are even higher when the Queen herself is present, as she was today. (For her part, she's been married to Prince Philip for seven decades, but you wouldn't know it from their stoic public moments together.)

Outside of her sweet moment of romance, Kate made headlines Friday for her gorgeously form-fitting, berry-toned ensemble. See more photos from Eugenie's big day:
