AMAs: Cardi B hits first red carpet since Nicki Minaj fight

Updated

Cardi B returns to the spotlight.

The rapper stepped out with her husband, Offset, on Tuesday night for the 2018 American Music Awards, marking her first red carpet outing since her infamous fight with Nicki Minaj at the Harper's BAZAAR ICONS party during New York Fashion Week one month ago.

Though she did attend several shows during Milan Fashion Week, the "Bodak Yellow" hitmaker had yet to step onto a red carpet since the blowup, which involved her lunging at Minaj and throwing one of her heels her way as she was protected by security.

The AMAs marked the first event at which both rappers were present since the fight, too. Minaj had also been at Milan Fashion Week, but didn't go to any of the same events as her rival.

On the red carpet, Cardi B happily posed with Offset, and the pair even shared a smooch for the photographers. She rocked an over-the-top floral gown with a black corset bodice and lace detailing underneath. She completed the look with a matching headpiece and black pumps with pink floral embellishments.

Cardi's outing came hours after W Magazine published an interview in which she explained the NYFW fight with Minaj.

"So many people want to say that party wasn’t the time or the place," she said. "But I’m not going to catch another artist in the grocery store or down the block."

"I spoke to her twice before, and we came to an understanding. But she kept it going,” Cardi added. "I was going to make millions off my Bruno Mars tour, and I sacrificed that to stay with my daughter. I love my daughter. I’m a good-a-- f--king mom. So for somebody that don’t have a child to like that comment?"

The rapper was referring to her decision to be with her daughter, Kulture Kiara, instead of fulfilling her commitment of opening for Bruno Mars on tour this fall.

Cardi B is set to perform her hit "I Like It" during the 2018 AMAs on Tuesday.
