AMAs 2018: Taylor Swift is a knockout in metallic mini and thigh-high boots

Taylor Swift hit the red carpet for the 2018 American Music Awards in head-to-toe silver squares. And we really do mean head-to-toe: From her angular hoop earrings right down to her sparkling thigh-high boots, Swift's ultra-modern Balmain ensemble was a perfectly-coordinated style success.

Also drawing attention? A large snake-shaped silver ring on her hand, a nod to the "snake" insult she reclaimed upon making her comeback in 2017.

Balmain is a noted favorite of the Kardashian clan, but Swift took design house's signature style in a whole new direction with her blunt blonde bangs and demure makeup.

The allover-metallic look is certainly edgy, but we've come to expect the unexpected from Swift in recent years. Once a country star who stuck to pastels and tulle, the Taylor Swift of 2018 never shies away from a big, bold style moment. (And she's always loved sparkle.)

Swift will open the show tonight with "I Did Something Bad," marking her first AMAs performance since 2014. She's taken a long hiatus from the awards show circuit, but fans are more than glad to see her back in action.
