'Long Island Medium' stars address shocking divorce: Marriage 'just wasn't working'

Updated

Theresa and Larry Caputo are shedding light on their shocking divorce on the upcoming season of "Long Island Medium."

The TLC stars announced back in December of 2017 that they were separating after 28 years of marriage, which caught fans of the series completely off-guard, and the estranged couple addressed their split in a preview clip for the upcoming season, premiering on October 8.

"I've had a lot of time to reflect on everything," Larry says.

"I feel like as hard and as difficult as it was for us to separate, it just wasn't working," Theresa adds.

The preview teases a "reunion you can't miss" as the pair cordially discusses their separation.

Larry had previously opened up about their marital troubles during the most recent season finale of "Long Island Medium.

"We're having a difficult time. I think a lot of the frustration has to do with us not spending the time together anymore," he told a friend on the show. "Along with that comes the lack of communication, so it's like losing your best friend. It's hard."

"As much as I try to busy myself so I'm not thinking about it, it's still there," he continued. "I know it's very trying for both of us. I don't want to make it just about me. I know it's the same for Theresa also."

Theresa also addressed their issues on the episode.

"We've been there for each other, you know, through thick and thin, you know, good times, and right now are not such great times," she explained. "I don't understand it. I lay in bed, and I say to myself, 'How did this happen? How did I get here?'"

Theresa and Larry Caputo share son Larry Jr., 23, and daughter Victoria, 24.
