‘SNL': Matt Damon yells a lot as Brett Kavanaugh in season premiere cold open

The 44th season of “SNL” kicked off on Saturday with a surprise appearance by Matt Damon, who played Brett Kavanaugh in a cold open sketch that lampooned Kavanaugh’s ranting comments at the marathon Senate Judiciary Committee hearings on Thursday.

Alec Baldwin, however, did not appear in the sketch, despite the fact that he is returning for a third straight season portraying Donald Trump.

The sketch saw Damon come out on stage for the hearing and begin his remarks by screaming, “I’m gonna start at 11! And I’m gonna take it to a 15 real quick!”

From there, the lengthy sketch saw Damon echo much of Kavanaugh’s actual comments, though with a twist. Damon repeatedly brought up the actual nicknames of Kavanaugh’s real high school friends, though he also added a few, like “Donkey Dong Doug,” “Handsy Hank” and “Gang Bang Greg.”

The sketch also included Kavanaugh’ general hostility toward the Democrats on the committee, as well as his repeated confessions of love for beer.

“I’m a keg is half full kind of guy. But what I’ve seen from the monsters on this committee makes me wanna puke, and not from beer,” Damon said.

And, later, when Rachel Dratch as Minnesota senator Amy Klobuchar asked about whether he has ever blacked out from drinking, Damon yelled: “I like beer, okay? I like beer! Boys like beer! Girls like beer! I like beer!”

Of course, the sketch also included a dig at Kavanaugh’s claim that he was a virgin through high school and for years after.

“I was the proudest, drunkest virgin you’ve ever seen!” Damon exclaimed.
