Chrissy Teigen talks her new cookbook 'Cravings: Hungry for More'

Updated

Chrissy Teigen stopped by the BUILD Series to discuss her latest cookbook "Cravings: Hungry For More."

This new book is the follow-up to her first cookbook "Cravings: Recipes for All the Food You Want to Eat," and features recipes for every meal and every occasion. When discussing the differences in writing the second book, she stressed that she wanted to make "really good food with good flavors."

"If anything, I would say it's naturally simpler and quicker because I cut down on the ingredients," she explained. "I personally wouldn't make me do the same things I did in the first book. I have people making their own pita chips and tortilla chips just to sprinkle on tortilla soup. I'm like, go get some chips. Crumble it up, it will be great. A little bit naturally easier."

Teigen is known to be a relatable internet personality, especially on Twitter, and she did not shy away from that when planning the visuals for her cookbook.

"I wanted the photos and the food to look realistic and attainable. You guys can really make everything," she said. "Nobody can't cook. You know? Everything is possible."

She also opened up about how important her family and background were to the recipes in her book. Her mother's Thai recipes and her father's burgers make some appearances throughout the book. She states that her favorite recipe in the book is the Thai Fried Ribs.

John Legend, Teigen's husband, is a fan of healthier meals and recipes, according to Teigen.

"John can be a jerk because he really enjoys the healthy recipes, which is fine. But, you know, I think we're both finding as we grow older that pounds just aren't shedding like they used to," she laughed. "He likes the mediterranean couscous, and we have simple chicken breasts that are spice rubbed."

The mother of two also has a new line of cookware at Target called "Cravings by Chrissy Teigen," which she kept secret from her fans for a couple years while she developed the line.

"I wanted things to be beautiful, and I wanted things to be handmade looking and timeless," she added. "I wanted people to keep it out. I wanted to gift it, and I wanted things to get better as they chipped. Or got better if they got a scratch on them. And I think we really nailed it. It really looks beautiful in so many different kitchens. I'm so excited to make people proud of their kitchen."

When discussing the importance of creating a cookware line at Target, she emphasized that she wanted her products to be accessible to everyone.

"There shouldn't be a price tag put on wanting to be proud of the things that you own. What brings more people together than cooking and the love of food and sharing? I wanted people to be able to take pictures and send them off to my Instagram... to see something that I created on a plate of mine, I think I'll lose it."

"Cravings: Hungry for More" is out in bookstores everywhere, and Teigen's cookware line "Cravings by Chrissy Teigen" arrives in Target stores on September 30.
