Former Bravo reality TV dating series personality and his girlfriend charged with rape

Updated

A man who appeared on a Bravo reality series and his girlfriend have been arrested on charges of drugging and raping two women and authorities suspect more victims could be out there, according to documents obtained from the Orange County District Attorney’s Office.

Grant William Robicheaux, a surgeon from Newport Beach, California, who appeared on Bravo’s short-lived dating show “Online Dating Rituals of the American Male,” and Cerissa Laura Riley are charged with rape by use of drugs, oral copulation by anesthesia or controlled substance, assault with intent to commit sexual offense, and possession of a controlled substance for sale. Additionally, Robicheaux is charged with firearms violations.

Orange County District Attorney Tony Rackauckas told reporters Tuesday that authorities had found more than 1,000 clips of women in different states of consciousness on Robicheaux’s cellphone, many of whom appear unable to consent to sexual intercourse.

“Based on this evidence we believe that there might be many unidentified victims out there,” Rackauckas said. The DA added his office believes “the defendants used their good looks and charm to lower the inhibitions of their potential prey.”

Robicheaux appeared on Bravo’s “Online Dating Rituals of the American Male,” which aired for six episodes in 2014. Rackauckas told reporters no women from the show have been connected with the videos found on Robicheaux’s cellphone.

The Orange Country District Attorney’s Office showed a clip of Robicheaux on the show during the news conference Tuesday (which was recorded and can be viewed below). It appears Bravo has since removed that video and references to Robicheaux from its website. The DA’s office said the segment was called “Three’s a Crowd.”

Attorneys for the couple told TheWrap in a statement Wednesday that, “all allegations of non-consensual sex are unequivocally denied by Grant Robicheaux and his girlfriend Cerissa Riley. They have been aware of these accusations for a number of months, and each of them will formally deny the truth of these allegations at their first opportunity in court. Dr. Robicheaux and Ms. Riley believe that such allegations do a disservice to, and dangerously undermine, the true victims of sexual assault, and they are eager to have the proper spotlight shed on this case in a public trial.

“It must be noted that none of the allegations in this matter relate to or concern Dr. Robicheaux’s medical practice or patients in any way,” the lawyers added.

A representative for Bravo and did not immediately respond to TheWrap’s request for comment on the charges or whether or not the content featuring Robicheaux had been pulled from their site.

Riley and Robicheaux each paid $100,000 bail when they were arrested last week. They will be arraigned Oct. 25 in Newport Beach.
