Aretha Franklin's funeral: Famous faces, from Ariana to Omarosa, arrive at Detroit ceremony

Updated

Aretha Franklin's soulful sound touched all corners of America, from Detroit to Hollywood to Washington, D.C. -- and that was certainly reflected in the guest list for her Friday funeral as the Queen of Soul was laid to rest.

In addition to Franklin's family and friends, an A-list lineup of famous faces are gathering at Greater Grace Temple to perform or simply mourn. Stevie Wonder, Ariana Grande, Faith Hill, Jennifer Hudson, Jennifer Holliday and Fantasia are all slotted to sing, while other celebrity guests will quietly pepper the pews.

While most celebrity arrivals were no surprise, such as Tyler Perry and Smokey Robinson, others were a bit more unexpected. One of the first arrivals to be photographed was former Trump aide Omarosa Manigault Neuman, who wore a white skirt suit, black church hat and dark sunglasses.

Essence magazine's Cori Murray tweeted that upon Neuman's arrival, there were audible whispers of "Why is she here?"

Inside the church, former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton greeted Ariana Grande with a hug, according to USA Today. By Grande's side was fiance Pete Davidson.

Franklin, an 18-time Grammy winner whose career spanned five decades, passed away on August 16 after a private battle with pancreatic cancer.
