Host Paige Davis on 'Trading Spaces' family: 'We love fiercely and we fight fiercely'

Updated

Paige Davis could not be happier to be back as host of "Trading Spaces."

The trailblazing TLC home renovation show ran for eight seasons from 2000 until 2008, and returned a decade later earlier this year with the same cast, crew and group of designers and carpenters. The announcement was met with universal excitement, with a tinge of caution: Would the show look and feel the same as it did 10 years ago?

As Davis explained during a recent Facebook Live sit-down with AOL's Gibson Johns, if everyone involved in bringing the show back got what they wanted, then nothing would change.

"The biggest thing that everybody wanted was that we didn't really want anything to change," she said. "When you come back 10 years later for a reboot, the question on everybody's mind was how do we keep it closest to the original 'Trading Spaces' that everybody loved?"

And a big part of what everyone loved about the show were the personalities like Davis, like designers Vern Yip and Genevieve Gorder and carpenters Ty Pennington and Carter Oosterhouse.

"People can sniff through the television screen that we're all very close. [...] We describe ourselves as family. We're so much more than friends, because we love very fiercely and we fight fiercely," she said. "It was neat to see that it wasn't a fluke, that we could come back together after all these years and it would all still be exactly like that."

"Trading Spaces" was recently renewed for a tenth season by TLC.
