Why did Cardi B and Offset name their baby Kulture Kiari?

Introducing Kulture Kiari! As soon as Cardi B announced via Instagram that she gave birth to her first child on Tuesday, July 10, fans took to Twitter to point out that the baby girl’s name appears to be an homage to the “I Like It” rapper’s husband, Offset.

The newborn’s first name could come from the titles of Migos’ most recent albums, Culture and Culture II. (Offset, 26, formed the rap trio with his family members Quavo and Takeoff in 2009.) The middle moniker is Offset’s real first name. Additionally, Kulture and Offset have the same initials: KKC.

“My dude named the baby,” Cardi, 25, explained on The Ellen DeGeneres Show in April. “I really like the name. … It’s, like, almost tricky but when it comes out. It’s like, ‘Ah!’”

TMZ reported that Offset was at the hospital when the “Bodak Yellow” MC gave birth in Atlanta on Tuesday.

The couple have tried to keep their private life out of the spotlight. Cardi didn’t announce her pregnancy until April when she performed on Saturday Night Live in a body-hugging dress that showed off her baby bump. By that time, there had been rumors for months that she was expecting a little bundle of joy.

And just a few weeks before Kulture’s arrival, the Love & Hip Hop: New York alum announced that she and Offset secretly married in September 2017.

“There are so many moments that I share with the world and then there are moments that I want to keep for myself! Getting married was one of those moments!” she wrote in a note posted on Twitter on June 25. “At least ya can stop saying i had a baby out of wedlock.”

The “Bad and Boujee” rapper is also the father of sons Jordan and Kody and daughter Kalea from previous relationships.
