Carrie Underwood reveals the one hit that she wishes she wrote herself

Summer’s in full swing and the past week’s heatwave has served as quite the reminder.

This proved to be especially true in New York City on July 4 — an Independence Day filled with fireworks, heatwaves and plenty of entertainment.

But it wasn’t so much the fireworks lighting up the sky that let off the biggest bang of the Holiday week.

After what seemed like endless months of preparation, New York City’s Seaport District finally unveiled The Rooftop at Pier 17, a 4,000+ person venue set to hold everything from performances to fitness classes throughout the entire summer.

The sold-out inaugural concert was headlined by none other than the ‘All-American Girl’ herself, Carrie Underwood, which kicked off Spotify’s Hot Country Live concert series.

Underwood was joined by country duo Dan + Shay and Pop-country singer/songwriter Filmore for a night that screamed red, white and views — of the East River, that is!

The former ‘American idol’ winner cranked out hit after hit, wooing the crowd with favorites like ‘Before He Cheats’ and her latest single, ‘Cry Pretty.'

But it was a raw and honest moment that Underwood shared with concertgoers which made for the most memorable part of the evening -- Underwood admitted to fans that she wished she had, in fact, wrote everyone’s favorite scream-it-in-your-car-alone anthem, ’Jesus, Take The Wheel', instead of simply performing it.

The Rooftop at Pier 17 will be hosting performances into the fall, with every big name from Kings of Leon to Diana Ross.
