Twitter conspiracy theory: Anne Hathaway's husband is William Shakespeare

“To be or not to be?”

Maybe Anne Hathaway's husband, Adam Shulman, can answer that question. After all, many on Twitter think he may be William Shakespeare reincarnated -- or at least that's the newest conspiracy theory trending on social media.

"anne hathaway is being talked about for her beauty but what about the fact that her husband looks very similar to william shakespeare and william shakespeare's wife's name was literally ANNE HATHAWAY," the original conspiracy theory read on Twitter.

Since being tweeted out on June 30, over 100,000 people have retweeted the theory, while nearly 400,000 have liked it.

And it doesn't stop there.

The original Anne Hathaway was 26 years old when she married Shakespeare, who was only 18. Fast forward 500 years, the modern-day actress is 2 years younger than her husband.

“Where Anne hath a Will, Anne Hathaway," one Twitter user wrote.

"Shakespeare made a deal w his wife," someone else mused. "'I get to be famous in this life and you get to be famous in the next.'"
