Michael Douglas shares update on his son Cameron two years after prison release: ‘He’s doing great’

Michael Douglas’ son Cameron has come a long way. And the 73-year-old actor couldn’t be more proud. “He’s doing great,” Michael told Us Weekly and other reporters at the premiere of Ant-Man and the Wasphosted by Synchrony and Avion in New York City on Wednesday, June 27.

Celebrity Kids on the Red Carpet: Then and Now

Cameron, who Michael shares with ex-wife Diandra Luker, was released from prison in August 2016 after nearly seven years behind bars for drug charges. Today, Cameron, 39, is a family man. He and his yoga instructor girlfriend, Viviane Thibes, welcomed their daughter, Lua, in December 2017.

Michael isn’t sure how he feels about his role as grandpa. Especially since his and Catherine Zeta-Jones’ children Dylan, 17, and Carys, 15, still live at home with them. “I was telling [Cameron], I love Lua, she’s gorgeous,” the two-time Oscar winner revealed. “Grandchildren are great when you’re an empty-nester and you don’t have anybody and then you’ve got a grandkid but when you still have kids in the house, it’s like, ‘Oh, OK. great.’”

Though Zeta-Jones wasn’t on the red carpet with her husband of 17 years, she was most definitely on his mind. When asked about best part of being married, he replied: “You couldn’t divide it into parts. The whole package. She’s pretty darn good.”

Celebrity Kids Who Became Models

Ant-Man and the Wasp opens in theaters on Friday, June 29. And Douglas said filming was more difficult than he expected. “Most of my career has been contemporary movies, character driven,” he explained. “This green screen, which I kind of pooh-poohed is much harder than I thought it would be!”
