Demi Lovato reveals she’s relapsed in new song ‘Sober’

In her new single, “Sober,” Demi Lovato reveals that she’s relapsed. The pop star has been in rehab before for substance abuse, depression, and an eating disorder. Now, she’s shared a ballad that expresses how “sorry” she is that she’s “not sober” anymore.

“Momma I’m so sorry I’m not sober anymore,” she sings on the track. “And Daddy please forgive me for the drinks spilled on the floor / To the ones who never left me, we’ve been down this road before / I’m so sorry, I’m not sober.”

Demi goes on to apologize to her fans for relapsing again. “I’m sorry for the fans I lost, who watched me fall again,” she sings. “I wanna be a role model, but I’m only human.”

The “Cool for the Summer” singer reassured her listeners that she’d get help and work hard to get sober again. “I’m sorry that I’m here again / I promise I’ll get help,” she sings. “It wasn’t my intention / I’m sorry to myself.”

In a documentary released last year, Demi opened up about her years-long battle with addition and an eating disorder. She said it was a daily struggle to remain sober.

This is the first time she’s speaking out about relapsing. “My truth,” she captioned the video on Twitter.
