"Saturday Night Fever" afficionados remember the classic movie opening with Tony Manero walking in step to the Bee Gees soundtrack, paint can in hand getting a double-decker slice at Lenny's Pizza.
Travolta will visit the pizzeria on 86th Street where he will honored by Brooklyn State Sen. Marty Golden.
"Travolta changed the culture of Brooklyn and America forever in both fashion and music. The movie 'Saturday Night Fever' brought millions of Americans to the dance floor to the rhythm of disco," said Golden. "We feel we are bringing back a little history to the streets he once made famous."
Lenny's will also name a slice in Travolta's honor.
Joe Causi from our sister station WCBS-FM 101.1 will emcee the event.
Tomorrow we do it Brooklyn Style! Join Joe Causi, actor William DeMeo & others as we honor John Travolta on 86th St & 19th Ave at Lenny’s Pizzeria from 1:00pm-2:00pm History will be made in BROOKLYN! Travolta's new movie about a certain figure from another borough, "Gotti," opens Friday. Travolta plays John Gotti, who was born in the Bronx and mostly hung around Ozone Park.
