Kim Kardashian deletes appetite suppressant ad amid backlash

Updated

Kim Kardashian’s latest post where she was seen sucking on a lollipop was a lot less innocent than it seemed.

The reality star used her influence to promote an appetite suppressant lollipop and was immediately met with hundreds of comments about how inappropriate it was to support poor eating habits among young women.

“Eating disorders are a very real issue for a lot of young people and to see Kim Kardashian actively encouraging her fans to develop an unhealthy relationship with food is terrifying and gravely concerning,” activist Liam Hackett tweeted.

“The Good Place” star Jameela Jamil slammed Kardashian as a “terrible and toxic influence on young girls” for the post.

Kardashian deleted the Instagram post after a few hours, likely because of the backlash.

She initially wrote “#ad You guys... @flattummyco just dropped a new product. They’re Appetite Suppressant Lollipops and they’ literally unreal.”

Her post included a promo code for 15% off.

Flat Tummy Co. frequently appears on the social media feeds of celebrities, who often promote the brand’s teas.

Kardashian, 37, decision was immediately questioned considering she is a mother of three children — including two daughters, North, 4, and Chicago, four months.

“I admire their mother's branding capabilities, she is an exploitative but innovative genius, however this family makes me feel actual despair over what women are reduced to,” Jamil continued.

“What kind of mother would advertise appetite suppressants. Jesus Christ they’re moeny hungry. no respect,” a Twitter user wrote in response to the actress.

“You are setting the worst example to girls all over the world. No one should have to feel the need to suppress their appetite to fit to ridiculous beauty standards. So offended right now,” one user wrote.

Another added, “MAYBE don't take appetite suppressors and eat enough to fuel your BRAIN and work hard and be successful. And to play with your kids. And to have fun with your friends.”

A Twitter user added in response to Jamil: This woman has far too much influence over young girls & seems incapable of using it in a positive way.”

Kardashian has yet to respond to the backlash and Flat Tummy Co. did not immediately respond to a Daily News request for comment.

On the company’s website, the lollipop is described to have the ingredient satiereal, which they claim is a “clinically proven safe active ingredient extracted from natural plants.”

"It works to maximise satiety (which helps control food intake, cravings and weight),” according to the product description. “So with 1-2 pops per day, you’ll have your hunger under control and cravings in-check.”
