Town & Country apologizes to Monica Lewinsky for party disinvite after Bill Clinton accepted

Town & Country issued a terse apology Thursday morning to Monica Lewinsky after the magazine uninvited her from a party in order to spare her presence from President Bill Clinton, who was also in attendance.

“We apologize to Ms. Lewinsky and regret the way the situation was handled,” said the magazine.

Lewinksy had been invited to attend the magazine’s annual philanthropic summit on Wednesday, but was removed from the guest list by magazine honchos after they realized Bill Clinton would also be there.

The former White House intern who famously had an affair with Clinton in the 1990s launched a series of cryptic tweets Wednesday over the issue which now appear to be directed at Town & Country.

“Dear world: Please don’t invite me to an event (esp one about social change) and –then after i’ve accepted– uninvite me because bill clinton then decided to attend/was invited. It’s 2018. Emily Post would def not approve,” she said.
