This year's grand jury convened to commemorate the beginning of the festival this afternoon, with the veterans of the festival Cate Blanchett and Kristen Stewart commanding attention in their spring-inspired pantsuits. Joining them were fellow jury members Ava DuVernay, Khadja Nin, Denis Villeneuve and more.

Also roaming around Cannes on the first official day of the festival were Christoph Waltz, Chloe Sevigny and more.

Later on the first day of the 2018 Cannes Film Festival, stars hit the red carpet for the first time for the Opening Ceremony and "Everybody Knows (Todos Lo Saben)" premiere. Blanchett, Stewart and Sevigny were on-hand, as were Penelope Cruz, Julianne Moore, director Marin Scorsese and model Chantel Jeffries.
