Laurie Hernandez launches a body-positive clothing line

Olympic gold medalist and "Dancing With The Stars" champion Laurie Hernandez can now add designer to her resume. Hernandez is launching an exclusive new collection, Obsess, with JC Penny. The gold medalist stopped by BUILD Series NYC to talk about her new clothing line and inspire us all with a message to young girls.

Obsess is for bodies of all shapes and sizes, sizes ranging from 7 to 20, and feature trendy tops, rompers, dresses and jeans designed for all body types. This line is perfect for summer with its bright clothes and funky cutouts. Unlike any other clothing line, everything in Obsess is set out to motivate the person wearing it. Each piece of clothing has a motivational quote embroidered somewhere on it.

"One of them says, 'dream it, be it' and the other says 'this is beautiful,'" Hernandez said. "When I was at the Olympics, I would always speak positive quotes to myself even though I was so nervous."

Hernandez's bubbly personality shines through in this collection. With all the distinctly different styles and colors, this line is perfect for teenagers who are constantly changing and developing their style.

"I am promoting body positivity with this new line, and it is important for girls to hear this message especially when they go through puberty," she explained. "Everything is changing for them around that time, and this clothing line can be a lot of comfort to them."

Hernandez wants girls to feel beautiful and comfortable in her clothes. She wanted teenage girls going through puberty to have clothing that will make them feel beautiful when they may be self-conscious of their changing bodies.

"I made this line to showcase body positivity and say you are all beautiful and right now you're just growing and that's normal," she said. "Just embrace where you are because you will never get those years of your life again."
