Checkmate: Stormy Daniels outwits Roseanne Barr in Twitter spat

Just a few years ago, who would've thought that national headlines would be driven by the star of a defunct sitcom and an actress of the adult film variety?

But it's 2018, and that's how things are, as evidenced by a Twitter exchange that unfolded Friday: Outspoken Trump supporter Roseanne Barr had choice words for Stormy Daniels, the porn star who allegedly had a hush-hush sexual relationship with Trump. But the fiery "Roseanne" star met her match in Daniels, who shut her down with a succinct slam-dunk response.

Oh, and Patricia Arquette and Chrissy Teigen are involved, too.

Here's how it started: Arquette noticed a tweet from user "Sassy Southern Diva," who wrote that Daniels is "disgusting" and doesn't "represent classy women."

"Following this logic, if she doesn’t represent 'classy women' I guess that means the President represents classless men?" Arquette mused. "Hmm. Interesting..."

Barr then inserted herself into that conversation, replying that Daniels is "known for anal porn scenes."

Daniels wasn't exactly impressed by that rebuttal: "I don't even do anal movies, you ignorant twat," she shot back. "That's like saying you are known for your beautiful rendition of The Star Spangled Banner."

The tweet instantly went viral, racking up more than 42,000 retweets in just a few hours.

Daniels is of course referring to Barr's infamous National Anthem performance of the 1990s, in which she grabbed her crotch and shrieked as a whole stadium booed.

After seeing the exchange, Chrissy Teigen had her own remaining question for Barr:

"When you tweet, do people at ABC just implode?" she asked pointedly. "They have to."
