Abigail Breslin through the years: From child star to fearless woman at 22

Updated

Abigail Breslin has had a blink-and-you-missed it transformation from child star to the lovely, empowered young woman she is today.

Older audiences know Abigail from her breakout roles in the early aughts: She was just three years old when she snagged a spot in M. Night Shamalan's "Signs," and after that came blockbusters like "Raising Helen" and "Little Miss Sunshine."

Now 22 years old, Abigail continues to book starring roles -- like last year's lead in "Dirty Dancing" -- but she's more passionate about lending her voice to girls' empowerment initiatives. And who wouldn't love that?

First, take a look at Abigail in her younger years:

And this is her today, snapping a selfie with a Girl Scout as part of the Always #LikeAGirl and Walmart campaign, encouraging young women to pursue careers in STEM.

“We want to show these girls that no matter what obstacles come their way, they can find success when they believe in themselves," Abigail said of teaming up with the initiative.
