Kelly Ripa and Mark Consuelos address the 'bizarre' shaming of her bikini photo

Kelly Ripa wants those Instagram trolls to lighten up.

During Tuesday's Watch What Happens Live with Andy Cohen, the talk show host addressed the bikini photo Mark Consuelos posted that resulted in several negative comments.

"You posted the hottest picture of Kelly in her bikini and all of these trolls came out, and you swatted them down," Cohen exclaimed. "I loved it!"

Consuelos, Ripa's husband of 22 years, dubbed the entire situation as "bizarre."

"It was bizarre, it's like, what else are you supposed to wear at the beach?" asked the 47-year-old actor.

The Live with Kelly and Ryan co-host continued, sounding equally confused by the bikini backlash.

"I don't know what I'm supposed to wear to the beach," Ripa mused. "I mean, I wasn't in synagogue, I was at the beach. If you come up with an option, let me know."

After Consuelos shared a bikini snap last month of Ripa standing in the ocean and showing off her fit physique, the 47-year-old TV personality wound up on the receiving end of excessive criticism.

Her husband immediately jumped to her defense in the comments section, writing, “Yes, she’s wearing a bikini at age 47 and will no doubt wear one for many years to come. If that offends you in some way, if it triggers you, or some other psychosis you’re suffering from, I suggest you get over it and get used to it.”

In addition addressing their social media critics on WWHL, Cohen challenged the married couple to one of his trademark games, "Three-Way or No Way," in which Ripa and Consuelos were presented with a series of celebrities for a little fictional threesome action.

Needless to say, the two practically unanimously agreed that they would happily engage in a three-way with everyone on Cohen's list, from songstress Cardi B to Real Housewives star Bethenny Frankel.
