Inside Sarah Jessica Parker and Matthew Broderick's family life

New York-based actor Matthew Broderick doesn’t have to travel far for work. The two-time Tony winner lives in New York City and he’s currently starring in the Off-Broadway production The Seafarer. But it’s still not an ideal situation for the father of James, 15, and 8-year-old twin daughters Tabitha and Marion.

“It’s not totally perfect because I’m out of the house right when the kids get done with homework,” Broderick, 56, exclusively told Us Weekly at The Seafarer opening night on Wednesday, April 18. The Ferris Bueller’s Day Off actor admitted it was easier when his children were babies. “When kids become school age, the theater is not like the greatest,” he told Us. “I’ve learned that.”

Sarah Jessica Parker, who was on hand to celebrate her husband’s opening night, happily shared details about her brood. “My son is in high school and has a wonderful group of friends,” the Divorce actress, 53, gushed. “He plays soccer and piano. And the girls are happy and enjoying life and learning. They’re really well.”

All three are diligent about their homework. Quipped Broderick: “Our kids are so smart you don’t need to do anything. They’re like little computers.”

The Sex and the City alum and Broderick will celebrate their 21st wedding anniversary in May. Parker believes their busy schedules are the key to their marital bliss.

“I know this sounds nuts, but we have lives that allow us to be away and come back together,” she said during a January appearance on Girlboss Radio with Sophia Amoruso. “His work life takes him here, and mine takes me there. In some ways, I think that that’s been enormously beneficial because we have so much to share in a way.”
