Video: Rachel Platten forgets lyrics to the national anthem

Few things in sports are more awkward than the pregame national anthem singer that forgets the lyrics. It’s just uncomfortable for everyone in attendance and you feel really bad for the singer. Unfortunately, we had one of these moments on Saturday.

Rachel Platten of “Fight Song” fame was set to sing the national anthem at a NWSL match on Saturday. The Utah Royals and the Chicago Red Stars were playing.

The pop star had a difficult time remembering the lyrics to the Star Spangled Banner. She had to stop and re-start a couple of times.

It was brutal to watch. It’s brutal to watch on a replay, to be honest.
