Tom Hardy is unrecognizable as Al Capone in sneak peek at ‘Fonzo’ (photo)

In true Tom Hardy fashion, he’s fully immersing himself in his new role for “Chronicle” and “Fantastic Four” director Josh Trank’s Al Capone film “Fonzo.”

The “Dark Knight” and “Dukirk” actor has been sharing some photos from the set of the film. And he’s almost unrecognizable as the prohibition-era crime boss. Like most Hardy flicks, this one also looks like it’s going to be intense.

“Fonzo” was announced back in October 2016 with Hardy set to star. Trank wrote the script and is directing the film, which is suppose to explore the mobster’s life at 47 years old, after being released from prison. Capone (Hardy) will be forced to consider his violent and reprehensible actions as his mind is ravaged by dementia.

The movie has been stuck in the development stage for a while, according to reports. Filming was initially scheduled to start in the summer of 2017, but Hardy instead went to shoot “Venom” for Sony, which is set for an Oct. 5 release.
