Kate Hudson's BFF shares something surprising about the pregnant star

If you think Kate Hudsonseems laid back, meet her boyfriend Danny Fujikawa. The couple are expecting their first child together — a baby girl — and Hudson’s BFF Erin Foster says she will be the bad cop.

“Kate is a really good mom. She’s strict. She’s really good with boundaries,” Foster told Us Weekly and other reporters at the Daily Front Row Fashion Awards in Beverly Hills on Sunday, April 8. The Barely Famous alum described her stepbrother Fujikawa, who sang and played guitar for L.A.-based folk band Chief, as a “hippie.”

“He’s very ethereal and kind of like go with the flow,” Foster, 35, revealed. With their different parenting styles, she noted that it “will be interesting to see how that happens.”

Hudson has two sons, Ryder, 14, and Bingham, 6, from previous relationships with Chris Robinson and Matt Bellamy, respectively. The Fabletics co-founder, 38, and former Black Crowes frontman Robinson, 51, ended their seven-year marriage in 2006. She and Muse’s lead vocalist — who began dating in 2010 — called off their engagement in 2014. But Foster is confident that her BFF has finally found her perfect match.

Though the How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days actress and Fujikawa made their official red carpet debut as a couple in May 2017, they had been pals for 15 years after meeting through Erin and her sister Sara Foster.

“When they say timing is everything, it’s so true,” Erin gushed. “You’re around someone for so long . . . and you don’t think of each other in that way and then one day you look at each other differently.”

She added “You don’t have to put on airs or pretend to be someone else or try to be cool because you already know each other. They just found each other at a really beautiful time in their lives.”

Hudson was initially worried about how a romance with Fujikawa would affect her friendship with Erin and Sara. “She kept going, ‘Is this weird for you? Is this weird for you? I won’t do it if it feels weird for you,’” Erin recalled. “And we kept being like, ‘It’s not weird! It feels weirdly right!’”

A source told Us Weekly on Friday that Hudson wanted a daughter “more than anything.” Erin and Sara had their fingers crossed, too. “She wanted a girl so badly,” Erin explained to Us.

Hudson learned she got her wish at a gender reveal video that she posted on Instagram. “They really didn’t know until they popped the balloons and the pink came out,” Erin revealed. “I don’t know if you saw . . . Sara jumping on top of Kate like a psychopath, but we were just so excited about her having a girl!”
