Anthony Scaramucci is listed as a producer of 'Paterno' movie

Anthony Scaramucci’s money got him a title of co-executive producer on HBO’s movie about Joe Paterno.

Scaramucci’s name appears in the credits of the “Paterno” movie, which premieres Saturday on the cable channel. Both the former White House Communications Director and HBO confirmed that his title is because he helped provide financing for the project.

From the New York Times:

“Anthony Scaramucci has a co-executive producer credit on ‘Paterno’ based on early financing he brought to the project prior to HBO’s involvement,” a network spokesman wrote by email.

Scaramucci is one of the many people who have served as communications director under President Donald Trump. And he’s probably the most infamous, as his tenure lasted just 10 days over the summer. The attention-loving investment firm owner has continued to appear on cable news defending Trump and his management style.

“Paterno” stars Al Pacino as the longtime Penn State coach who died shortly after losing his job with the school amidst the Jerry Sandusky sexual abuse scandal. HBO released an extended trailer for the movie in February, and you can view it at the link here.

“‘Paterno’ is not a sprawling piece that spans years,” director Barry Levinson said in a January release about the movie. “It unfolds largely over a two-week period, when we watch the events play out. I’m not following an agenda or trying to tell the audience to take a certain side in regards to Coach Paterno. The film lays out the elements of the story and leaves you to make your own judgment. There are times when you may feel one way, and times when you may feel a totally different way, and I think that’s what makes the piece so compelling.

“Joe Paterno was known as an honorable man, an educator, a humanitarian — so trying to make sense out of what happened is, for me, the most fascinating aspect of the story. What did he understand? What did he not understand?”
