Katy Perry shows off her Jesus tattoo with a religious Instagram post

Katy Perry isn't one to hide her faith.

The "American Idol" judge shared a photo of her wrist tattoo, which reads "Jesus" in a cursive font, after Easter this week.

"My brokenness + God's divinity = my wholeness," she wrote.

The star was raised in a strict, evangelical Christian household, and while she's clearly still retained her own personal faith in Jesus, she has openly denounced her parents' lifestyle -- and has also said that she's not a Christian.

"I'm not Buddhist, I'm not Hindu, I'm not Christian, but I still feel like I have a deep connection with God. I pray all the time—for self-control, for humility," she told Marie Claire in 2013.

She also has spoken openly about undoing the "conditioning" from her upbringing.

"My house was church on Sunday morning, church on Sunday night, church on Wednesday evening; you don't celebrate Halloween; Jesus gives you your Christmas presents; we watch Bill O'Reilly on TV," she told Vogue in 2017. "That was my whole childhood and youth and early teens. I still have conditioned layers dropping off of me by the day."
