Uma Thurman and Ethan Hawke's daughter Maya says being a celebrity 'is not particularly interesting' to her

With parents like Uma Thurman and Ethan Hawke, Maya Hawke's foray into the family business seemed inevitable.

In a new interview with Elle magazine, the A-listers' 19-year-old daughter opens up about her natural transition into becoming an actor -- but makes it clear that she's not so keen on following in her parents' celebrity footsteps.

For Maya, acting has felt "like swimming, breathing or kissing." She recently nabbed a role on season three of Stranger Things, and dropped out of Juilliard's prestigious acting school after one year to star as Jo March in PBS Masterpiece's adaptation of Little Women.

The budding actress says she feels like she's been preparing for her role in the latter "my entire life," but still admits to asking her parents' for advice while filming in Ireland. She took their notes, but insists acting advice is as far as it goes. "The world of celebrity that comes with the world of art is not particularly interesting to me," she shares.
