Abby Lee Miller did not get special treatment in prison: 'They made her life difficult' (Exclusive)

Abby Lee Miller did not get the celebrity treatment while behind bars.

The 51-year-old Dance Moms star was released from Federal Correctional Complex in Victorville, California, on Tuesday, and was transferred to a halfway house in Long Beach, California -- but while in prison, sources tell ET that life wasn't easy for her.

While some fans may have speculated as to whether Miller was treated differently because of her TV star status, sources claim that it was just the opposite.

“Some of the prison personnel even went out of their way to make an example out of her and make her life difficult,” says one of the sources.

While in prison, the source claims Miller was assigned to clean-up duty, which included scrubbing the bathrooms. "That certainly made her life challenging behind bars," the source adds.

As for her life in a halfway house, Miller's former prison consultant and coach, Jennifer Myers, tells ET that while it's "fantastic news" that she's out from behind bars, "some of the women [in facilities such as these] have complained and say it is worse than prison."

"It is not a fun place to be, but it is one step closer to getting home," she notes. "The halfway house is a facility that is locked down and the doors lock and there are video cameras monitoring everyone. It is a cared-for facility, not like a regular house."

As of now, Miller is scheduled to be released from the halfway house in about two months.

“Her official release date is still May 25, 2018, but when you get down to the last 10 percent, you can serve it on home confinement," Myers explains. "She will probably be there for a bit, but not all the way up until May 25.”
