Twitter photo shows a scruffy Michael Shannon watching the Oscars alone at a bar

When you're Michael Shannon, the Oscars are whatever.

The two-time Academy Award nominee watched as his latest film, "The Shape of Water," took home Best Picture on Sunday -- from the comfort of a bar stool in Chicago.

"No sound on the TV, just sub-titles," wrote Old Town Ale House owner Bruce Elliott. "Of course the juke box was rocking, and the beer flowing. Where else would you want to spend Oscar night?"

Rocking a thick mustache, 43-year-old Shannon had a front row seat -- sort of -- as "The Shape Of Water" won four awards, including Guillermo del Toro for Best Director.

Shannon is one of the film's main characters, but he was a bit busy Sunday: He'd just wrapped up the final performance of a play he directed, Traitor, at Chicago's Red Orchid Theatre.

We gotta say, the guy looks perfectly content to be right where he is. Who needs Hollywood, right?
