Taylor Hickson sues producers over face-disfiguring injury

An actress starring in an indie horror flick is suing the production company after she suffered a face-disfiguring injury on set.

Taylor Hickson, 20, has filed a lawsuit against Incident Productions after she had to get about 70 stitches in her face following an "emotionally charged scene" where she pounded on a glass pane and it shattered into her face, according to the suit filed Friday, obtained by the Daily News.

The Canadian actress was working on the film "Ghostland" in Canada in December 2016, just days after her 19th birthday, when the director asked her to pound harder on the door that later shattered. "In the course of shooting the scene, the director (Pascal Laugier), consistently told (Hickson) to pound harder on the glass with her fists," the suit states. "At one point during the filming of the scene, and after being asked to increase the strength with which (she) pounded on the glass, (she) asked one of the producers and the director if it was safe to do so. That producer and the director both replied in the affirmative."

Laugier is not named in the suit.

In another take of the scene, the glass shattered and Hickson's head and upper body fell through the door causing her to badly cut her face.

"The crafts services lady held my face together with napkins in her hands," Hickson told Deadline. "She went through so many napkins, there was so much blood."

Photos following the accident show the trauma to her face in gruesome detail. A large red cut is visible from her cheek to her chin, but other bruising shown was actually prosthetics and makeup for the scene.

Since the accident, the actress has had laser and silicone treatments to repair the damage to her face — but she told Deadline that she is left with "mass amounts of insecurity."

"Over one year post-incident, (Hickson) has been left with permanent scarring on the left side of her face," the suit states. "It is unknown at this time if any further treatment, including plastic surgery, would reduce the visual appearance of the injury."

In recent photos obtained byThe News, Hickson has a large, significant scar on the left side of her face. On social media, she covers or hides the left side of her face in many of her photos.

Hickson previously starred in "Deadpool" and claims the injury left her with a loss of income for future projects.

The art for the film ironically shows the actress with a disfigured face that is cracked like porcelain.

"Ghostland" is set for theatrical release in France next week.
