Watch Hailee Steinfeld sing at high school fan's vigil in New York

After an avid Hailee Steinfeld fan tragically passed in a go-carting accident, the singer performed an acoustic set for friends and family at the vigil on Wednesday (Feb. 28).

16-year-old Long Islander Leah Kuczinski was supposed to see Steinfeld in concert this summer, but couldn't go, so the "Let Me Go" singer decided to honor her during a vigil at her school, New Hyde Park Memorial High School in New York. Along with being a big music fan, Kuczinski was also a member of the cheerleading and field hockey team.

Before singing an acoustic version of her song "Starving," Steinfeld said she was happy to honor the sophomore: “Thank you guys all so much for asking me to come here and honor Leah,” she said. “You all had so many incredible things to say about her, I really would have loved to have met her."
