Need a boost of happiness? Neil Patrick Harris has got you covered

Updated

This is not an exaggeration: Neil Patrick Harris has kept America smiling for nearly 30 years.

In the decades since "Doogie Houser, M.D.," NPH has become a true Renaissance man of entertainment. From Broadway to magic shows to some of TV's most popular shows -- yes, a third season of "A Series of Unfortunate Events" is in the works -- he's one of those guys that just understands how to bring joy into the world.

So while he's kept us cheerful, what puts Neil himself in a good mood? First and foremost, family: "I'm getting messages of the kids in the park right now, running around on scooters, laughing," Neil told AOL. "I love the technological world we live in because FaceTiming is a constant. I feel sometimes like I'm in the Epcot center future to actually talk to them face-to-face from afar."

AOL asked Neil to rattle off a few other faces, places and drinks he turns to for a pick-me-up. Here's what never fails to perk him up after a long day of filming:

MOVIE: "I can think of three. 'The Goonies,' 'Charlie and the Chocolate Factory' ... Probably number one would be 'Clue.' I like ensemble comedies that seem almost improvisational. 'Clue' the movie is a hidden gem."

COMEDIAN: "Right now, it's probably Scott Auckerman and Paul F. Tompkins and what they do with 'Comedy Bang Bang,' which is a podcast that's hilarious and amazing."

DRINK: "It has to be bubly. [PepsiCo] sent us a bunch of products, and it is delicious and kind of a game-changer. All the flavors are good! We've burned through all the cases they sent us and had a second shipment that is now almost gone."

Above: In partnership with GIPHY, bubly created one thousand share-worthy GIFs (with hundreds starring Neil!) that are now available on all platforms where GIFs can be found, so check them out on Facebook’s GIF keyboard, the Instagram Stories search forum, and GIPHY.com.

SONG: "I do love 'Happy' -- 'Because I'm happy, clap along...'! Is that Bruno Mars? No, Pharell. How is that not on everyone's playlist all the time?!"

TRAVEL SPOT: "My immediate response would be Disney World in Orlando, Florida. We go every year and I'm a massive theme park aficionado. That said, whenever I go to Hawaii, it's always happy and pleasant. That may be, when [old age] kicks in and I start not recognizing anybody, I'd prefer to be shipped to Hawaii and live out the last 40 years of my life on a beach. Wearing a lei."
