'American Idol' alum Haley Reinhart found guilty of battery during bar brawl

Updated

Haley Reinhart, who took home third place on "American Idol" season 10, has been found guilty of battery during a July 2017 bar brawl.

According to testimony, the 27-year-old and her friends were told to leave because they were being aggressive and unruly. As a bouncer tried to guide her out, she first struck his gut and then punched him in the left eye.

Reinhart, who testified in her own defense during the Illinois hearing, maintained that she didn't intentionally hit the bar bouncer during an altercation. However, the judge cited surveillance video to indicate otherwise and said Reinhart's explanations were "evasive, argumentative and sometimes implausible," the Chicago Tribune reported.

The ensuing brawl ended in bloodshed and a lawsuit.

"I didn't see it going this way," Reinhart told TMZ. "The judge was wrong in his interpretation and had a cold and unfortunate perspective on the case."

Reinhart will be required to pay a $500 fine.
