Khloe Kardashian plans to eat her placenta after giving birth

Khloe Kardashian plans to follow in the footsteps of her older sisters and eat her placenta after giving birth.

The reality star, who is pregnant with her first child, revealed this intention during a conversation with her sister Kim on Sunday's episode of "Keeping Up with the Kardashians."

"I'm gonna eat it in pills," Khloe, 33, said on the episode.

Kim, 37, and Kourtney Kardashian, 38, have both been vocal about ingesting their placentas after having a child in the past.

Although the impact of a mother eating the placenta following childbirth is not scientifically conclusive, many women believe doing so can lead to a greater production of milk and a lower level of post-partum depression, according to the American Pregnancy Association.

Kim detailed her decision to take her placenta pills after giving birth to her second child, Saint, in 2015, writing in a website post in the time that she'd read testimonials from other women who believed it positively impacted their recovery.

"I had great results and felt so energized and didn't have any signs of depression," Kim wrote in the post.

Kourtney, meanwhile, described the placenta pills as "life changing" in a 2015 Instagram post.

Khloe, who is expecting her child with boyfriend Tristan Thompson, also revealed on Sunday's episode that she plans to give birth in Cleveland. Thompson plays forward for the Cleveland Cavaliers.

The episode also chronicled Khloe's decision not to confirm her pregnancy to the public after news first broke last summer that she is expecting.

"I'm still waiting to be in a safe spot, and it's my choice to do that," she said on the show. "It's my decision."

Khloe will be the third member of the Kardashian-Jenner family to welcome a new child in recent months. Kim and her husband Kanye's third child, daughter Chicago, arrived via surrogate in January, while Kylie Jenner gave birth to her first kid, daughter Stormi, earlier this month.
