"Star Trek" actor William Shatner is embarking on a whole new type of adventure: The 86-year-old star just signed with a country music label, where he's working on a "very special project" due for release later this year.

Little is known so far about his deal with Heartland Records Nashville, but Shatner is no stranger to the music scene -- he's released eight albums over the years.

"This new project promises to be one of the most entertaining musical ventures to date for the Emmy Award-winning actor," Heartland Records said in a statement.

Fans are speculating that Shatner may even team up with his longtime friend Brad Paisley -- he's appeared in two of Paisley's music videos. Time will tell!
