'Bachelor' star Bekah reveals why she was on missing persons list

“The Bachelor” contestant Bekah Martinez was on a missing persons list during her time on the reality series — but it wasn’t because her mom wasn’t aware she was competing for Arie Luyendyk Jr.’s final rose.

Martinez, 22, spoke to Jimmy Kimmel on Monday night after the episode where she was eliminated aired on TV, however, she had actually been eliminated months prior when her mom reported her missing in Northern California.

“I just decided to go to the mountains with my friends for a couple weeks and I was there for six or seven days without phone service which I thought I was going to have phone service and I told my mother that I would,” Martinez recalled.

“I just had this weird feeling like on the sixth or seventh day, I need to go home now. So I got in my car, drove to where I had service, called my parents and then come to find out only 12 hours before my mother had called the Humboldt Sheriff’s Department saying that I was missing,” she added.

Martinez wanted to clear the air to let viewers know that she did not lie to her mother.

She had told her mom she planned to work on a marijuana farm in the area, according to her mother’s account. Her mother had reached a friend of Martinez’s and told her to come home when her daughter refused, noting she was near Eureka — which is not near a marijuana farm.

As standard procedure, when authorities tried to contact Martinez and those she was with and received no response, the case was forwarded to the Criminal Investigations Division.

“To set the record straight I’m not a weed farmer,” Bekah said on “Jimmy Kimmel Live” Monday. “I’m still a nanny in L.A., but yes my friends have a marijuana farm.”
