Wallis Simpson reportedly flirted with Adolf Hitler, bombshell biography claims

Wallis Simpson’s ties to Adolf Hitler became a focal point on season 2 of “The Crown," and a new biography about King Edward VIII's wife claims she once unsuccessfully flirted with Hitler, People reports.

In Wallis in Love: The Untold Life of the Duchess of Windsor, the Woman Who Changed the Monarchy, biographer Andrew Morton, who also wrote the explosive 1992 book Diana: Her True Story, writes that Wallis thought Hitler's eyes were "magnetic, burning with a particular fire" when met the dictator on a tour of Germany after fleeing with Edward to France.

The couple reportedly met with Hitler over tea in the late 1930's. Simpson was enamored with him until, after her unreturned advances, she's quoted in Wallis in Love as saying, "I decided he did not care for women."

King Edward VIII became the Duke of Windsor when he abdicated the throne in order to be able to marry Simpson, who was previously divorced. The Church of England didn't allow divorced persons to remarry if their former spouse was alive.

According to Morton's sources, the Duke and Duchess of Windsor "agreed with some of Hitler's most horrifying beliefs," People reports, with the Duke once reportedly making his opinion known following his meeting with Hitler.

"I have never thought Hitler was such a bad chap," Morton writes that he said.

Another source of Morton’s also claims her parents heard both Wallis and the Duke of Windsor make anti-semitic comments during a dinner party.

"My parents were horrified by their dinner table talk," the source tells Morton. "Where they made it perfectly clear that the world would have been a better place if Jews were exterminated."
