Matt Lauer's estranged wife Annette Roque makes telling outing amid 'imminent' divorce

Matt Lauer's estranged wife Annette Roque is taking some much needed time for herself.

Photos emerged on Tuesday of Roque having lunch during a getaway to her hometown of Amsterdam, The Netherlands, on Friday, and she looked much more relaxed than she had in the immediate aftermath of Lauer's shocking firing from the "Today" show at the end of 2017. Roque was spotted at upscale restaurant Rijks, where "she was having lunch with a girlfriend," a source told Page Six.

"They were drinking red wine, and Annette did not have her wedding ring on," the source continued. "She was laughing through the whole lunch." She was wearing a comfortable, gray athleisure ensemble.

The outing was part of a trip to Europe during which Roque is "regrouping" after her life was thrown into turmoil back in November.

"Annette is enjoying the European life," the source added. "She is in a different mindset here. She is definitely regrouping."

Since Lauer's firing at the end of November, Roque has been living at the former couple's Hamptons home with their children, which Lauer was living at until she recently kicked him out in January. Their divorce is reportedly "imminent" 12 years after she initially filed for divorce from Lauer, citing "mental abuse, extreme mental and emotional distress, humilation, torment and anxiety."

Roque ultimately withdrew her filing, but that same move seems highly unlikely this time around.

Multiple reports indicate that Lauer was involved in several extramarital affairs with lowly staffers and production assistants at the "Today" show over the years, which led to him being fired from the network after two decades for "inappropriate sexual behavior in the workplace."

Sources have indicated that Lauer has no plans to make a comeback to television anytime soon.
