Sarah Silverman and Michael Sheen call it quits after four years: 'It got hard'

Breaking up is hard to do -- but Twitter makes it a little easier to spread the word.

Sarah Silverman told fans this week that she and boyfriend Michael Sheen have called it quits, offering a detailed but concise explanation with one single tweet.

"The great @michaelsheen & I consciously uncoupled over Christmas. I mean, not 'over Christmas' - like that wasn’t the fight that ended it. No fight. We just live in different countries & it got hard," Sarah wrote.

She then added, "Felt we should just tell y’all so u stop askin, 'How’s Michael/How’s Sarah?'"

The two began dating in January 2014. Before finding love with each other, they both previously had long-term (and high-profile) relationships; Sarah dated Jimmy Kimmel from 2002 to 2009, and Michael dated Kate Beckinsale from 1995 to 2003.

Sarah is famously quite good at maintaining a positive friendship with exes. She and Jimmy are still great friends, and in 2016, she and Michael were thrilled to share a red carpet moment with Kate. The photos from their sweet meet-up are in the gallery above.
