CNN anchor Don Lemon's sister Leisa dies at 58 after drowning

CNN anchor Don Lemon's older sister has died at the age of 58.

L'Tanya "Leisa" Lemon Grimes lost her life after accidentally falling into a pond in Livingston Parish, Louisiana, on Wednesday, The Times-Picayune reported, and local officials suspect that no foul play was involved in Grimes' tragic drowning.

Lemon, 51, did not appear on "CNN Tonight" on Thursday night, but did pay tribute to his late sister in a heartbreaking tweet earlier in the day.

"Thanks everyone for your worths of sympathy," Lemon tweeted along with a photo of Grimes. "Please keep my family in your prayers. Leisa was my older sister & partner in crime growing up. Always had my back. #RIPbigSis"

His family also released a statement following her sudden passing.

"The Lemon/Grimes family would like to thank everyone for their condolences and prayers at this time," they said in a statement to People. "We are leaning on each other for strength at this time. We appreciate privacy as we grieve the loss of our loved one."

Not much else is known about L'Tanya "Leisa" Lemon Grimes' death at this time.

News of her heartbreaking passing comes following a week filled with unexpected deaths that have rocked the entertainment industry. Former "Glee" star Mark Salling was found dead after an apparent suicide by hanging on Tuesday, while former "American Idol" contestant Leah LaBelle and NBA star husband Rasual Butler tragically lost their lives in a car crash on Wednesday.
