Logic reveals 'shithole' comment during Grammy performance was last-minute addition

During a moving performance of “1-800-273-8255” at the 60th Annual Grammy Awards on Sunday night (Jan. 28), rapper Logic did not hold back in his show-stopping speech addressing equality and President Donald Trump's recent controversial comments about immigrants.

Following his performance with Khalid and best new artist winner Alessia Cara, Logic delivered a powerful speech to inspire and uplift the Grammy’s audience and viewers watching at home.

“Be not scared to use your voice,” he roared before continuing his touching speech. “To all the beautiful countries filled with culture, diversity and thousands of years of history, you are not shitholes.”

His provocative line was a jab at the current President’s recent comments about immigrants and was revealed to have been added later in a post the rapper shared to his Twitter account.

Addressed “TO EVERYBODY” the typed up version of the speech revealed that Logic had decided to forgo his original wording and use President Trump’s recent scandal to address the countries in which he was referring to. In the photo of his folded up notes, it's clear that the rapper crossed out the word "beautiful" in the original after the phrase "you are" and subbed in the words "not shitholes."

Backstage, Logic expressed that he was asked by the Recording Academy to give a speech stating, "I wanted it to come from the heart. I’m not Tupac, or this prophetic dude or anything like that, I just want to make music and have fun. However, I have a power that a a lot of people in this world don’t, and I've been given a stage that the one percent get. I thought if I was going to have this power, I’d use it for positivity -- peace love and positivity to spread a positive message. Everyone is beautiful, and the world isn’t equal -- and we need to fight towards that."
