Rita Ora drops another new track: 'I just wanted to feel like a rapper for a second'

Rita Ora is on a roll

The British pop star released yet another new track on Friday called "Proud," making it her third major release since October, when she released her forthcoming album's second single, "Anywhere." Two weeks ago, she released her duet with former One Direction member Liam Payne, "For You" from "Fifty Shades Freed."

"I love that his fans have been so supportive!" Ora said of the reaction to their duet. "Those 1D fans are amazing. They are ride or die! It’s lovely to be able to have that support."

And feeling that support has only confirmed that what she's doing right now is working. The string of "Anywhere," "For You" and "Proud" comes after the highly-successful releases of "Your Song" and "Lonely Together," which she released with Avicii.

"I said to myself when I started making this album that I’m just going to put out as much music as I can," Ora told AOL Entertainment over the phone. "I'm not going to say 'no' to anything, because I just wanted to feel like a rapper for a second. [Laughs] I just wanted to put out as much possible content as possible -- it was as simple as that, and I’m really happy with the reactions."

"I’m the only artist to have two songs in the Top 50 Spotify playlist," she added. "I’m on a roll. Now’s my time."

For "Proud," Ora partnered with Absolut's Open Mic Project and crafted the song based on submissions of personal stories from her fans. The months-long collaboration resulted in an exuberant anthem that encourages acceptance, love and freedom.

"You make me proud, I want to tell the world about you know," she sings on the song's chorus. "You know it's you that I love, you that I love."

Ora told AOL Entertainment that she's "really proud" of the track.

"It’s also more about raising awareness about acceptance than about selling records," she explained. "So it’s a cool way to get through to people without having that pressure."

"I remember feeling really happy to be a part of something positive," she said of the song-crafting process. "It was enough for me just knowing that I had the support of the public, and it was another way for me to connect with my fans and just make more music. I was already working on my album and loads of other tracks here and there, so now I just get to live my life and perform my new stuff."
