SAG Awards throwback: See the red carpet style two decades ago in 1998

Updated

The 2018 SAG Awards are quickly approaching, and if past years are any indication, we should expect some major style statements -- both good and bad.

Thankfully, the red carpet shouldn't be quite as unpredictable as it's been in past years! We took a look back two full decades to see what the stars were wearing in 1998, and there were far more misses than hits.

A few highlights: A young Matt Damon looked dapper alongside the late Robin Williams as they took home top awards for "Good Will Hunting," and Calista Flockhart embraced '90s "style" in a satin gown-and-scarf combination. Meanwhile, Maria Bello showed off her torso in a black bra top. Take a look:

Although many of these famous faces won't be at this year's SAG Awards, a few might! Jane Fonda could make an appearance, as could Matt Damon and perhaps even Julia Louis-Dreyfus, who recently wrapped up her chemo treatment for breast cancer.

What trends should we expect? Well, if the Critics' Choice Awards told us anything, it's to expect the unexpected -- hot pink, see-through fabrics and skintight ensembles all made appearances on the red carpet:
