Ellen DeGeneres nearly starts crying as she FaceTimes Oprah: Watch

Updated

Ellen DeGeneres nearly started crying in front of her studio audience this week during a FaceTime call with Oprah Winfrey as the two explained to viewers the nightmarish conditions currently plaguing California.

A massive mudslide consumed Montecito and surrounding areas this week, killing 17 people so far and damaging countless homes and properties. Among those affected, incidentally, are Ellen and Oprah.

"I'm looking out the front window, I think everything's fine, everything's fine -- and it wasn't until I put my boots on walking and I realized everything ... wasn't fine at all," Oprah recalled on FaceTime, trudging through a foot of mud as Ellen's studio audience watched. "All of my neighbors’ homes are gutted ... The neighbors out back, their houses are gone."

At some moments, a clearly shaken Ellen appeared near tears as she detailed the devastation. She and wife Portia de Rossi adhered to the mandatory evacuation order that was issued on Sunday night.

Last month, they also had to evacuate during the gigantic wildfires that endlessly blazed through the area.
