Paris Hilton and Chris Zylka engaged: 'I immediately said yes!'

Paris Hilton is engaged!

The heiress and her "Leftovers" actor boyfriend, Chris Zylka, revealed on Tuesday morning that they are engaged to be married after Zylka popped the question at the top of a mountain in Aspen before New Year's over the weekend.

"I'm so excited to be engaged to the love of my life and my best friend," Hilton told People, who exclusively made the announcement along with photos from the proposal. "I have never felt so happy, safe and loved. He is perfect for me in every way and showed me that fairytales really do exist!"

"I was so excited and surprised," she continued. "I immediately said yes."

Hilton, 36, and Zylka, 32, have been dating for about two years now, though they first met long before that -- eight years ago at an Oscars party.

"Ever since our first date I knew there was something special about him," Hilton said about Zylka. "I have never in my life met a man so loyal, dedicated, and loving. I knew right from the start that I wanted to be with him forever."

Zylka echoed Hilton's sentiments in a statement of his own.

"Paris is the most beautiful and incredible woman both inside and out," Zylka told People of his fiancée. "I feel like the luckiest man in the world to be marrying my dream girl. I can't wait to spend the rest of our lives together."

As for her ring, the couple didn't share many details, but Hilton called it "so gorgeous and sparkling."

"I was shaking as I put it on," Hilton said. "It is the most beautiful ring that I have ever seen!"

UPDATE: Paris Hilton took to Twitter after her engagement announcement to share the news with her followers in the most Paris Hilton way possible.

"I'm engaged That's hot!!!" she tweeted. "I said yas! So happy & excited to be engaged to the love of my life. My best friend & soulmate. Perfect for me in every way. So dedicated, loyal, loving & kindhearted. I feel like the luckiest girl in the world! You are my dream come true!"
