JetBlue dropped Ryan Seacrest's name to explain earlier flight arrival into JFK -- but Seacrest was in the dark

Updated

A JetBlue flight received priority treatment from air-traffic control thanks to Ryan Seacrest -- but it appears he and his team had nothing to do with it, and they have no idea why it happened at all.

The Tuesday flight was from LAX to JFK, and it took off 30 minutes late, Page Six reports. But while in-air, an officer announced that the flight had been "given priority" to land because "we have a friend on board." That friend was a woman who'd won a competition to meet Ryan Seacrest in New York.

The woman, Katie Roberts, reportedly won an invitation to meet Seacrest ahead of his "New Year's Rockin' Eve" show. She got a round of applause from her fellow passengers on JetBlue flight 424.

A Seacrest rep speaking to Page Six was "baffled," the site reports: “No one involved with [“New Year’s Rockin’ Eve”] that we checked with is aware of this person or any related promotion.”
