Lady Gaga pays moving tribute to late aunt Joanne on last date of North American tour

Lady Gaga paid touching tribute to the inspiration for her most recent album, Joanne, on Monday (Dec. 18) when she posted a black and white Twitter post of herself and Joanne executive producer Mark Ronson looking very Cotton Club chic behind a pair of turntables in retro evening wear. "Today is the anniversary of my father’s sister Joanne’s passing. 12-18-1974,” wrote Gaga, 31, born Stefani Joanne Germanotta.

"It also happens to be our last #JoanneWorldTour date playing North America," she added. "I'm very sentimental @MarkRonson, who I wrote Joanne with will be here, in the audience and on stage." Gaga's aunt died in Dec. 1974 at age 19 due to complications from the autoimmune disease Lupus. Gaga was born 12 years after Joanne's death, but her late aunt has cast a long shadow on the singer's career, from the tattoo she and her father, Joseph, got last year with Joanne's date of death, to her fourth album's title and the inclusion of a poem written by Joanne in the booklet for Gaga's breakthrough 2008 debut, The Fame.
